Newest Project:
LA Basin
the new 3-song EP from LA hip hop legend, Abstract Rude
With LA Basin, Abbey Rude once again cements his name in sidewalk of Los Angeles. At its heart, the project is proof positive that the renowned hip hop veteran is still actively building in the very streets that born and raised him.
His vocal and poetic prowess are on sharp as ever on the EP where he effortlessly flips from spoken word poet to potent rhyme-styler to party-rocking singer. Backed by the groovingly complimentary production of Cal-S-thetics throughout, Ab paints a nice portrait of what it takes to navigate these LA Nights in order To Live & Thrive in LA. Interestingly enough, Ab and Cal have also included the instrumentals and acappellas of each song as well.
Straight and to the point, LA Basin is a nice bite-sized portion of dope served deliciously by one of the best voices in LA’s historic hip hop scene.
The EP will be available via all streaming services thanks to the truly collaborative effort by Keep the Feel Entertainment and Glass Bottom Boat Productions.
Cal-S-thetics is carving his niche, one project at a time.
Working to become proficient in all aspects of the art of music, Cal is versed in many aspects of the science from recording and songwriting, to producing and publishing, to administering and marketing, he’s aimed at making his Glass Bottom Boat Productions a respected outfit in the industry for independent and provocative art curation.
Admittedly avoiding music for a period of 8 years, Cal was called back to the profession by fate when long-time collaborator, Tone Dogg Raw asked him to aid in launching Tone’s record label, Doggma Uno back in 2016. Thirteen releases and numerous collaborations later, Cal-S-thetics is fully committed to building community and capital thru the arts and music with renewed fervor as both a producer and an artist. Look out for upcoming collaborations with Abstract Rude, Vel the Wonder, A-F-R-O, Doggma Uno, Calvin Valentine, Enkrypt Los Angeles, and Viva Mescal as well as his solo productions to continue to push his GBB Productions venture toward righteousness.
Other Projects
Working as an executive producer, artist, and beat maker, Cal has developed an impressive catalog by working with many great musicians to make quality jams and related content. Here’s the most recent:
Save The Planet
Calvin Valentine
Cal-S-thetics’s first joint executive production with super producer Calvin Valentine, “Save The Planet” is a smoked-out odyssey into the life of the “Polo-rocking, hippie kid” they call Bong Mayer.
Barrio Science
Viva Mescal
Another executive production Cal was a part of, “Barrio Science” is Mescal’s most ambitious release to-date. Recorded in a 1-take jam session, the song will go down in East LA hip hop lore. Cal also played the synthesizer lead on the song.
Nuff Said (Side A)
Cal-S-thetics
Cal’s “Nuff Said” is a thoroughly groovy and fun beattape/mixtape that features some deep and not-so-deep cuts crafted back in 2007-08 on his SP-808ex. Check out his work as a sampler and album-crafter in this quirky and essential Cal-S- release.
