LA Basin
the 3-song EP by Abstract Rude produced by Cal-S-thetics
With LA Basin, Abbey Rude once again cements his name in sidewalk of Los Angeles. At its heart, the project is proof positive that the renowned hip hop veteran is still actively building in the very streets that born and raised him.
His vocal and poetic prowess are on sharp as ever on the EP where he effortlessly flips from spoken word poet to potent rhyme-styler to party-rocking singer. Backed by the groovingly complimentary production of Cal-S-thetics throughout, Ab paints a nice portrait of what it takes to navigate these LA Nights in order To Live & Thrive in LA. Interestingly enough, Ab and Cal have also included the instrumentals and acappellas of each song as well.
Straight and to the point, LA Basin is a nice bite-sized portion of dope served deliciously by one of the best voices in LA’s historic hip hop scene.
CAL-S-THETICS - NUFF SAID (SIDE A)
This long-delayed beat tape by Cal-S-thetics finally makes its way out of the archives of the Glass Bottom Boat. Characterized by chaotic change-ups, chopped up record funk, and awkward vocal samples, the project gives a taste of vintage Cal-S-thetics beatsmithing. Nuff Said, is a strictly for the heads type project so pop this tape in and let it run. Available via Bandcamp for FREE!
